The events division of the National Caravan Council (NCC) has reported 43,356 visitors at its first London Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show.
The figure included 35,598 paying visitors, representing 82 per cent of total attendance. The Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show was held at Excel London from 14 to 19 February and was the first major show of its kind in the region for the six years, NCC Events claimed.
NCC Events returned to the exhibition industry with its first Motorhome and Caravan Show at The NEC last October. The consumer event reported record-breaking attendance of 93,323 visitors, up 22,000 year-on-year and including 83,401 paying attendees.
NCC re-entered the exhibition market after taking over Clarion Events’ tenancy slot and show at The NEC last year. NCC originally planned to break away from Clarion’s October event and launch a rival show in London after key manufacturers called for the council to run its own event.
“Staging a new show at a new venue is always a challenge but we’re delighted to have hit our attendance target and feedback from many visitors has been encouraging,” exhibition project director Simon Coe said.
NCC Events confirmed the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show will return to Excel from 12 to 17 February 2013. The organiser said it is now in consultation with the industry to gauge feedback on the show in order to deliver an even better Southern-based event.
