Brintex has claimed this year’s parking industry trade show Parkex in London was its best in terms of square metres sold.
The event, which is co-located every other year with the organiser’s Traffex trade exhibition at The NEC, sold 200sqm more than its last standalone London outing in 2010, despite a drop in exhibitors from 122 to 106 this year.
Parkex was held at Olympia from 17 to 18 April and is pitched as the largest dedicated parking event in Europe. The event attracted 2,073 (unaudited), on par with the last standalone event in London in 2010.
“This year was the largest standalone Parkex exhibition by sqm sold, which is particularly pleasing as it shows there is still a large appetite for exhibition space at Parkex when it is held in London,” show organiser Bill Butler said.
An area of growth was low-voltage and solar-powered parking solutions, tapping into rising visitor demand for more energy-efficient options, he said. Content developments meanwhile, focused on improvements to the free seminar programme including speakers from Europe, the US and Canada.
“Rather than commercial presentations from the industry suppliers, speakers focused on best practice and innovation from a parking operator perspective, which saw every session packed out over the two days and often with standing room only,” Butler added.
Brintex held Parkex 2011 alongside the 25th edition of its Traffex exhibition at The NEC last March. The combined biennial event attracted 9,000 visitors (unaudited) and 450 exhibitors and returns to the Birmingham venue from 16 to 18 April 2013.
