Montgomery Worldwide Chairman Sandy Angus and Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre MD Cliff Wallace were among the four event industry leaders inducted into the Convention Industry Council (CIC) Hall of Leaders at a gala dinner in Baltimore last night (21 June).
Angus and Wallace joined 102 other leaders already in the Hall of Leaders and were selected from a group of nominees from industry leaders and innovators.
Angus worked in the industry for 40 years, establishing trade shows throughout the world and is credited with producing the first training video for exhibitors. He has served as chairman of UFI and founder of the Exhibition Industry Federation.
"I am delighted to be considered for this award," Angus said. "The fact of being the first British person to have been admitted into the Hall of Leaders is a true honour."
Wallace also described being recognised by CIC and included in its Hall of Leaders as "an honour".
"But more significantly," he said, "and meaningful to me is to be a part of a group of leaders who are so respected and have made such a positive difference in this special and important industry in which we work and that we represent daily as ambassadors."
The ceremony was held at the Baltimore Convention Center, which is currently hosting the inaugural Reed Travel Exhibitions AIBTM show.
Earlier this month, Montgomery acquired 100 per cent of Fresh RM after buying out JV partner Reed Exhibitions.
