“We built up a base in Ireland and a lot of people from UK companies used to come to our show in Galway,” Mara Media MD Hugh Bonner told EN. “We got to know them and through our magazine The Skipper we got a broader picture of the international fishing scene.”
The inaugural edition brought 100 exhibitors and around 2,500 visitors, unaudited.
“We’re looking at making it larger and more international next year. We want to grow it but we have to establish the show first,” said Bonner.
UBM has moved a step closer towards the acquisition of US organiser Advanstar.
The American firm, valued at US$972 million (£599 million) specialises in fashion, licensing, life sciences and powersports events.
