JP Events and Exhibitions has turned its attention to its second English pets exhibition following the successful Scottish launch this month.

The LovePets show was held from 3 to 4 September at The Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh and attracted 5,000 visitors, the organiser claimed. JP MD Mike Schwarz said 70 exhibitors participated ranging from small charitable organisations to commercial pet businesses.

The highlight of the show was the 50 different types of animals on view including dogs, cats and owls, Schwarz said. Also on the agenda were star performances from Britain’s Got Talent’s favoured canines Kate and Gin.

LovePets is one of several shows debuts this year by JP in conjunction with
The Scotsman newspaper. The organiser launched the new Outdoor Pursuits Scotland event in April and the Yorkshire Food and Drink Show in July. The English edition of LovePets will be held at the Exec Peterborough from 29 to 30 October.

According to Schwarz, advanced ticket sales online increased dramatically in the final few days before the event.

“They say never work with animals and children, but at LovePets Scotland we had both in abundance and all went according to plan,” he claimed. “The broad range of arena acts and presentations were packed on both days. Exhibitors reported doing good business and initial visitor feedback is very positive.”
