The supplier of Wi-Fi connectivity to the London Frieze Art Fair in London’s Regent’s Park claims attendees transferred nearly 1 terabyte (TB) of data during the four-day event.
Max Wi-Fi was appointed by the event organiser to supply a 100MB fibre optic circuit in Regent’s Park along with 45 wireless access points across the show’s temporary structures and organiser’s office. The London Frieze Art Fair ran from 13 to 16 October and was attended by 60,000 visitors and 173 galleries.
According to Max Wi-Fi, 989GB of data was transferred over the four days across nearly 5,000 devices. Of these, 85 per cent were iPhones and iPads. The public Wi-Fi provided at the show accounted for nearly 70 per cent of all data transferred, while the remainder was transferred over exhibitor and production networks. On average, 6.5MB of data was transferred per second.
The usage data was provided using a Meraki information dashboard.
“Frieze Art Fair shows how the use of on-demand computing and social media has increased the demand for Wi-Fi,” Max Wi-Fi MD Richard Hughes said. “This is going to continue and organisers need to be aware.
“Getting the Wi-Fi right could make the difference between a brilliant event and a loss of reputation.”
Over the past year, Max Wi-Fi also supplied Wi-Fi connectivity products and services to the Hampton Court Flower Festival, Windsor Horse Show and Scottish elections. Photo courtesy of the Frieze Art Fair.
Earls Court property developer Capital and Counties (CapCo) claims its agreement to acquire London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF)’s land within the site is expected within months.
