Three thousand visitors have signed up for this year’s Ice Cream Expo 2011, starting next week in Harrogate.
Organised by the Ice Cream Alliance, the event will be held from 1 to 3 November at the Yorkshire Event Centre and will feature 60 exhibitors.
The exhibition will also be the venue for the UK heat of the first European Gelato Championship with the winners going forward to compete at the final in Berlin. Competitors will have to make a toffee ice cream fresh on the day.
Ice Cream Alliance CEO Zelica Carr said consumer demand for ice cream remained strong with manufacturers and retailers working hard to absorb costs from commodity and energy hikes.
"The expo is the biggest of its kind and we would expect millions of pounds worth of business will be generated from this event,” said Carr. "It will be attracting key decision makers in the industry who are keen to takeadvantage of the latest innovations in manufacturing techniques and retail strategy.
“Visitors to the show represent a large portion of the available spend within the industry including machinery manufacturers, static and mobile retailing and food service operators."
Contractor Freeman UK and project management firm Mayridge will be part of a forum later this month to discuss the growing roll of creativity in the export of UK events.
Manchester’s EventCity has installed a bespoke Changing Places toilet at the venue providing an easier ‘gold standard’ facility for disabled people and carers to use.
