UK-based exhibition organiser Brand Events will hold its first Top Gear Festival in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa on 16 and 17 June.
The event will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and include a live stadium show featuring Top Gear TV show hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, plusoutdoor features including a street circuit track and motoring expo with supercars, classics and motoring memorabilia.
Brand Events CEO Chris Hughes said this year’s launch is part of a three-year deal to take the Top Gear Festival to Durban, South Africa. He claimed several similar deals were in the pipeline globally.
The Top Gear Festival concept debuted in Johannesburg last March and complements the organiser’s Top Gear Live consumer show and exhibition format, which runs in the UK. The Top Gear Live replaced the MPH brand in 2011 and was held at Excel London and The NEC in Birmingham.
Brand Events also holds its first Top Gear Live Stunt Show at the Olympyiskyi stadium in Moscow on 24 and 25 February, followed by TopGear Live events in Stockholm, Sweden (15-17 March) and Copenhagen, Denmark (29 March – 1 April).
Earls Court property developer Capital and Counties (CapCo) claims its agreement to acquire London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF)’s land within the site is expected within months.
