Exhibition and events venue Manchester Central welcomed Her Majesty The Queen to an Urban Garden Party on 24 March as part of her Diamond Jubilee visit to Manchester.
The Queen joined 1,000 community champions for the event and also officially opened the recently redeveloped venue.
The Central Hall was transformed into an Urban Garden Party for the day. The 1,000 community champions, dubbed the Manchester Diamonds, were recognised for their dedication to supporting the local communities. The Queen and guests were entertained by performances from local school and community groups.
The Queen unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of the redevelopment.
“We are absolutely delighted that we have played a part in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and have had the opportunity tohost an Urban Garden Party for The Queen,” Manchester Central CEO Angie Robinson said.
“It will certainly be remembered as a very proud day in the history of Manchester Central.”
