Visitor numbers up a third at Outdoor Pursuits Scotland

Outdoor Scotland

The second Outdoor Pursuits Scotland show claims visitor numbers were up by a third at the Royal Highland Centre last week.

Unaudited figures say the consumer show had 4,500 visitors on 21 and 22 April, up from 3,400 last year. The organiser announced plans to expand this year after a solid first show result in 2011.

For this year’s Outdoor Pursuits Scotland, floor space was increased to 4,000sqm from 2,500sqm to cater for 100 exhibitors. The event was jointly organised by The Scotsman and JP Events and Exhibitions.

"It is apparent that the event is starting to be taken seriously in Scotland by those involved in the outdoors industry," said Mike Schwarz of JP Events and Exhibitions.

New activities included an indoor ski slope and sailing simulators.

“Outdoor Pursuits Scotland was a pleasure to work on and turned out to be a great event for all involved,” added Schwarz. “We have a solid base to build a strong national Scottish event and I look forward to developing the show further for 2013.”
