The organiser of the Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show has proclaimed this year’s event a success after seeing a 14 per cent rise in exhibitors.

The show was held at The NEC in Birmingham from 24 to 26 April and took up an additional 2,445sqm of floor space this year. The show is currently being ABC audited but also expects to beat last year’s total attendance of more than 16,137 visitors.

This year’s event also gained international status after winning the support of the global Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles (OICA). Other highlights included the launch of its first event app, plus a series of educational workshops and product launches.

The CV Show returned to The NEC in April last year after being cancelled in 2009 due to the recession. It is owned and organised by the Commercial Vehicle Show, which consists of the Road Haulage Association, The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and IRTE Services, the trading company of the Society of Operations Engineers.

“The CV Show is already the UK’s largest road transport event but with OICA’s accreditation, it is now recognised as one of the most influential and important events on the global calendar,” SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt claimed.

“This year’s show proved to be a resounding success and our new international status will help to build recognition of the important role of the UK road transport industry.”

The NEC account manager Charlotte Careswell said this year’s CV Show was a strong step forward for a show that returned to its entirety last year.

“It’s fantastic to see that being built on and this year’s success is a testament to the organisers, not only securing the stability of the full show but bringing it back even better than it was before,” she added.
