New event organiser EmergeXpo is launching a exhibition and conference in the UK aimed at the optical and ophthalmic market.
The Eye Show 2013 will be held at Excel London and will run from 12 to 14 February 2013. It will take up a possible 8,000sqm at the venue.
The event has been organised as a result of industry demand and feedback, with participation confirmed from the UK, Korea, India, China, Dubai, France and Germany.
A series of 18 Continuing Education and Training conferences and seminars will run alongside the main exhibition.
Event organiser Dawn Kime said she came up with the idea of The Eye Show after a general chat with her optician.
“He was complaining there was no annual London-based event of any size in his industry and that the only event available for him to attend in the UK was biannual, not easily accessible and didn’t have a good reputation,” she said.
“I was looking to find a niche for a new exhibition, this timepreferably in the UK, and so I started to do some research. During the course of my research, I discovered all overseas exhibitions with involvement in the field of optics and ophthalmics were reporting a year-on-year increase in attendance; some with a steeper upwards climb than others.”
