Three members of the Excel London team will cycle 1,000 miles to raise awareness and money for new industry charity, Events for Namuwongo.
William Mower and Tom Edwards came up with the challenge over drinks at their local pub and are now being joined by Excel event manager Berta Navarro Pero. The trio will kick off their ride on 29 June and plan to cycle to Barcelona, covering three countries and the Pyrenees Mountain Range in just over 14 days.
They have already secured the backing of Excel as well as sponsorship from the London Bike Show, Minty Cloud, P&O Ferries and SecureOps.
“Events for Namuwongo is a fantastic project that the events industry has come together to support, with the aim of raising £400,000 in the next 18 months,” Excel London CEO Kevin Murphy said. “We are incredibly proud of Will, Tom and Berta choosing to support this worthwhile project on behalf of Excel toraise money by taking part in this cycle challenge.”
The trio will document their trip via a dedicated blog and allow supporters to follow their progress via their website: http://londonbarcelona.co.uk/
UBM Live is working with London & Partners to create London Technology Week – an annual event to highlight the city’s role as a major technology centre.
London-based event industry exhibition, Square Meal's Venues & Events Live, is to extend the open hours of the first day of its show in response, the organiser says, to calls from the industry.
