Media 10 has reported a 102 per cent increase in average customer spend at this year’s Ideal Home Show Scotland against a five per cent dip in visitor attendance.

Ideal Home Show Scotland took place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) from 2 to 5 June, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, and attracted 38,000 visitors (pending ABC audit), down from 40,006 (ABC audited). Last year’s show attracted a total  of 44,020 attendees.

The consumer show was opened by celebrity ambassadors Lorraine Kelly, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Gregg Wallace, George Clarke, Diarmuid Gavin and Suzi Perry. The organiser said 400 exhibitors were on show this year across its eight sections: Interiors, Home Improvements, Home Food and Homewares, Woman, Shopping, Home of the Future, Gardens and Show Homes. This year’s event also featured the Prince’s Arts and Crafts Show House, along with entertainment and celebrity demonstrations.

This was the second annual edition Media 10 has held of the Ideal Home Show in Scotland after relaunching the event last May.

“We always knew this year would be difficult being up against the Jubilee Weekend; however, with such good reports from exhibitors and visitors and average customer spend up 102 per cent, we are thrilled,” Media 10 MD Lee Newton said.

“The combination of quality exhibitors, new celebrity team, creative features and our key sponsors have resulted in fantastic results for 2012.”

The organiser said a targeted PR and marketing campaign and its work with partners were key to achieving the better customer spend result.

Ideal Home Show Scotland returns to the SECC from 24 to 27 May 2013.

Media 10 recently launched the new Ideal Home Show Online Shop offering more than 1,000 products from suppliers.
