International Confex has unveiled its three-year vision for the show, which it hopes will attract more exhibitors to the event.
International Confex group director Jonny Sullens announced a week-long programme of industry events built around the main exhibition, taking place on 19-21 March 2013 at Excel London, that will be known as Confex Week.
Sullens said he hoped the move would provide more flexibility for visitors without limiting them to the traditional 10am to 6pm show opening times.
“We challenge both exhibitors and industry associations to build the programme in partnership, adding value to the visitor experience and creating an event that reflects and represents the full spectrum of the events industry,” he said.
The London Future Forum and Best of British pavilion will each take place during Confex Week with more to follow, according to Sullens. Other new elements being injected into the meetings show are a Destination Village, which will create an environment for buyers to meet DMCs and build their business and social itineraries, and a Hotel Lobby, aimed at the growing number of hotel brands exhibiting at the event.
2013 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Confex exhibition.
“Although never a brand to dwell on the past, it would be remiss not to celebrate this sizeable landmark for International Confex,” Sullens added.
Manchester’s EventCity has installed a bespoke Changing Places toilet at the venue providing an easier ‘gold standard’ facility for disabled people and carers to use.
Exhibition organiser ITE Group has said revenues booked for the full year are eight per cent ahead on a like-for-like basis, despite more profitable shows running next year.
