Excel London has reported its busiest ever visitor day as a result of staging several Olympic events.
More than 65,000 visitors came to the venue on Sunday 29 July.
The venue hosts seven Olympic events including boxing, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling and is the only venue to be staging events on every single day of the Games. It will also host six Paralympic events.
“We are delighted to have already welcomed so many people to Excel London for the 2012 Olympic Games,” said Excel London CEO Kevin Murphy. “So far everything has worked perfectly, with the transport infrastructure delivering everyone to the venue smoothly, whether they travel by train, plane or cable car, followed by a well-managed and rapid entranceinto the venue, once they arrive onsite.
“Our events are running at near capacity on every sport and feedback via Twitter is overwhelmingly positive. I’m looking forward to the remainder of the Games and showcasing the venue and our fantastic capital city to the rest of the world.”
Harrogate’s Pets and Aquatics Trade Show (PATS) is looking to widen its visitor profile ahead of its show at the Harrogate International Centre on 15-16 September.
