AEV AGM no longer the exclusive domain of senior industry figures

The Association of Event Venues (AEV) has announced its AGM this year at Birmingham’s NEC on 19 September will no longer be the exclusive domain of senior figures in the industry.

Dubbed by the association as ’AEV AGM+’, this year’s conference will welcome people from all levels of AEV member companies, a change designed to encourage more peer-to-peer networking within the association.

The day will include a keynote seminar from an industry expert, networking sessions, and feedback and updates from the various working groups.

AEV director Chris Skeith says: “We have designed the day to be interesting and enjoyable for attendees, providing them with greater industry insight, as well as giving them as many opportunities as possible to meet and network with each other and with members of the working groups.”

Skeith tells EN the association chose the NEC for this year’s AGM as part of a policy of using member venues for the association’s meetings and AGMs.

“As a direct result we’re seeing increased engagement in all our working groups from our 40-plus members.

“Bringing AGMs, working groups and board meetings to our member venues is an obvious choice for us, and we know from previous experience that it leads to greater co-operation, understanding and cross fertilisation of ideas - to the benefit of everyone involved.”
