New exhibition organiser Mercury Events has appointed the SO Group to deliver its full suite of services across its event portfolio for the next two years.

The contract includes the new Baby and Toddler Shows and Wedding Fairs running at the Glow events venue at Bluewater. The contract will also cover any future show launches and acquisitions.

Mercury Events launched earlier this year and is being overseen by MD Calum Taylor, who previously sat at the helm of Centaur Exhibitions. He left Centaur 12 months ago after 22 years and at the same time a restructure was announced.

Mercury’s first show was the Wedding Fair at Glow Bluewater in February, which attracted 7,860 visitors. Its contract with SO Group commences with the second Wedding Fair at Glow, Bluewater on 21-23 September.

“SO Group made a strong pitch and were clear winners in terms of creativity, resources and value,” Taylor said.

SO Group portfolio director Ian Haggar called Mercury Events an exciting new company with a very experienced team and significant USPs.

“It is always exciting to work with organisers from the beginning of a journey and help play a role in the successful deliver and development of their events,” he added.
