Informa’s debut Cross Media show has joined the list of trade and consumer exhibitions launching a smartphone app for visitors.
The Cross Media app contains information about the latest news, social media feeds, seminars, exhibitors, speakers across all sessions, along with an interactive show floor plan and traffic/travel information. The organiser said the new tool will also enable visitors to pre-plan their event experience and works across iPhone and Android platforms. It was produced by Companion HQ.
To support the app’s launch, Informa cited Ofcom’s latest Communications Market Report, which found a quarter of UK adults now own a smartphone. The organiser pointed out mobile is also highly relevant to the multi-channel world represented at the show.
“In today’s fast paced business environment, smartphones and tablets play an integral role in helping marketers, publishers, creative and printers keep their fingers on the pulse of what’s happening in their industry and optimise the time they spend on this. The Cross Media 2012 app will allow them to do just that,” marketing director Nick Craig Waller said.
Cross Media will incorporate mediapro, which Informa acquired from CloserStill in July. Other features planned for the inaugural events are six free seminar theatres, which will focus on challenges and opportunities in cross media campaigns, plus a networking bar, problem solving clinics and the Knowledge Hub.
Cross Media launches at the Business Design Centre in London on 3-4 September.
