Mash Media extolls the power of exhibitions to publishers

Mash Media Group’s Managing Director Julian Agostini gave a rousing speech to publishers looking to branch into exhibitions at the Business Media Group Sessions of the Professional Publishers Association (PPA) on Tuesday.

The session, built on the back of the PPA’s recent affiliation with the Association of Event Organisers (AEO), gave PPA members who have not yet considered what a live event could do for their brand, an opportunity to gain insight from a key figure in both industries.

Agostini told the assembled audience how Mash began as a publishing operation but has since diversified into a media and events business. He also gave the audience key insights on moving into events.

“The editorial content you can provide as a publisher is well beyond what an exhibition organiser can do coming in new,” he said. “You can’t just put on a hall of suppliers anymore. We are all now content providers.”

The leading events and meetings industry trade publisher recently completed the acquisition of the Event Production Show and Access All Areas from Ocean Media Group. The deal also includes the Event Production Awards and The White Book.

The Event Production Show has announced its dates at a revamped event on February 5 and 6 at Olympia, London.

Mash has also launched the Industry Expansion Initiative to give free advice to people to set up exhibitions and to help boost the industry’s profile.
