SECC cleans up at Scottish Event Awards
posted on: 15/9/2010 09:31:26
QD Events Fran McIntyre

Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre-based organiser QD Events’ MD Fran McIntyre has been named Event Professional of the Year at The Scottish Event Awards with the SECC itself scooping four awards on the night, including Best Large Venue, the Green Award, Best Marketing Strategy and the Event Services Grand Prix.

McIntyre was one of eight event professionals selected in recognition of their passion and dedication in promoting events as an important element of the marketing mix, with the winner decided through an industry vote. The shortlist included SECC’s Ben Goedegebuure; Hartmann Media’s Tessa Hartmann; museum DADA’s Oli Norman; Glasgow City Marketing Bureau’s Scott Taylor, and Geoff Ellis of DF Concerts.

The Green Award was presented in acknowledgment of the SECC’s offsetting carbon emissions through supporting the restoration of the Caledonian Forest, by planting more than 68,000 trees.

“It is an honour to have been recognised by our peers in the Scottish events industry, especially as 2010 marks the SECC’s 25th Anniversary,” says Director of Sales for the SECC, Ben Goedegebuure.

Sodexo Prestige Scotland won the Best Business to Business Corporate Event Award for its running of hospitality services at The Open Championship at St Andrews this year. The Gateway Centre at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, where Prestige Scotland provides catering, event and sales and marketing services, was named the Best Unusual Venue.
